movies and tv

fleabag

I finally got around to watching fleabag all the way through and ended up watching the whole thing in two days. I loved it so much, and the ending absolutely broke me.

lord of the rings: rings of power

If you’re putting off watching this series, please go do it! It’s so well-made and, even though it will never be exactly like the original movies, it is lovely to be back in middle earth.

army of the dead

Zack Synder has delivered yet another action-packed zombie film to Netflix, and I must admit they are my guilty pleasure. I’m not going to say it was a good film but I had fun watching it and that’s ultimately what I want from a Synder zombie film.

nope

I watched Jordan Peele’s new horror film at the cinema at the beginning of the month, and I’m still thinking about it and watching breakdown videos of it. It’s a gorgeous, mysterious fever dream of a film. Highly recommend!

travels

I went on a weekend camping trip to Eilean Donan Castle

I also visited Portencross again for a walk by the water for some writing inspiration. It’s one of my favourite places to visit.

shows

I went to see Dan Howell’s We’re All Doomed stand-up tour in Glasgow, and as someone who has watched him on YouTube for over 11 years, it was such a nostalgic, exciting night to see him live. And it was lovely to see everyone else who’s been a fan of his for years there too. Plus, his show was hilarious, heartfelt and highly relevant!

self

I managed to find some second-hand platform doc martins for an amazing bargain and I am obsessed with them! I also got back into candle making and went to Lush to pick up some of their Halloween collection but ended up only buying a Lord of Misrule bath bomb.

books

Salt On Your Tongue is ‘an ode to the ocean and the generations of women drawn to the waves or left waiting on the shore.’ The writing moves like the tide, flowing in and out with different mediations on women, the shore, parenthood and history. 4/5

Graham Swift is one of my favourite authors. His writing is so lyrical and precise and everything is so carefully placed that I can’t help but fall into his stories. The Light of Day is about a former policeman turned private detective who is primarily hired by women to catch their cheating husbands. It’s full of twists and turns and meandering narratives. 5/5
