Download Festival will soon return to Donington Park, and it’s the first time I’ll be experiencing the madness and the mayhem. And I cannot wait!
Therefore, it made sense for this week’s Top Ten to rank the ten acts I’m most excited to see while I’m there.
10. The Hu
This band was a fairly recent discovery, made while just scrolling through the line-up list.
They describe themselves as a blend of heavy metal and traditional Mongolian throat singing; it’s an interesting combination that works incredibly well to my surprise.
I’m excited to see what they’re stage presentation will be- given that their videos are visually alluring.
Songs to check out: ‘Yuve Yuve Yu’ and ‘Wolf Totem’
9. Whitesnake
Whitesnake have some amazing hits that I’m really looking forward to rocking out to live!
Both their earlier classics- from the likes of their ‘1997’ album- to their new material off ‘Fresh Blood’ will go down great with a large crowd.
Can’t wait!
Songs to check out: ‘Here I Go Again’ and ‘Shut Up and Kiss Me’
8. Icon For Hire

I’ve been following and listening to Icon For Hire since the beginning- and because of that I’m so excited that they’re finally coming back to the UK so I can support them!
I love everything they stand for, and their mix of pop, rock and catchy beats.
Songs to check out: ‘You Were Wrong’ and ‘Cynics and Critics’
7. Palaye Royale
Canadian fashion-rock trio Palaye Royale have a fresh, interesting sound that makes them stand out from the rock music scene.
And one that I think will allow them to grow more popular as the year goes on.
They’re full of attitude and style, and I’d love to see that brought to the live stage.
Songs to check out: ‘Warhol’ and ‘I Don’t Feel Quite Right’
6. Godsmack
Good old hard rock with catchy choruses and heavy riffs.
What’s not to love?
Songs to check out: ‘Say My Name’ and ‘When Legends Rise’
5. Halestorm
Lzzy Hale has an incredible voice and stage presence.
Think rock is dead? These guys will make you think again.
Songs to check out: ‘I Miss the Misery’ and ‘I Like it Heavy’
4. Slash
Slash’s incredible guitar playing combine with Myles Kennedy’s incredible voice will make for a set that I need to witness.
Songs to check out: ‘Bad Rain’ and ‘Beneath the Savage Sun’
3. Slipknot
Metal heavy-weights Slipknot are headlining Download and you’re crazy if you think I’m missing out on seeing them!
Their recent singles have made me really excited for their new album too- and I’m hoping we’ll get to hear some new tracks on the main stage.
Songs to check out: ‘Psycosocial’ and ‘People=Sh*t
2. Def Leppard
They’re playing Hysteria in full… Need I say more??
1. Trivium
Triv-i-um!
Triv-i-um!
The band I’m most excited to see this year is the one and only Trivium.
They’re one of my favourite bands and I cannot wait to see them for the first time at the legendary Download Festival.
Songs to check out: ‘Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Maryter’ and ‘Dusk Dismantled’
