Unwanted, unwelcome, the shadows seep
Across ice that keeps me frozen in time.
A small pink rose destroyed by frost, I weep,
Snatched from my grasp, I have lost what is mine.
The cold winds blow like the spread of venom.
Surrounded by leaves, letting go, falling
Rotten to the floor, colours faded, numb
From the chill that spreads down my limbs, crawling.
But spring will come, my summer will follow
Melting away this lonely sting of grief,
Letting me grow out of this dark hollow,
The bright, warm sun offering me relief.
And giving me hope my angel will come
Running home into the arms of her mum.
